WHY DO WE PERFORM ADVANCED SEMEN ANALYSIS IN LISA ANDROLOGY LAB?

Semen analysis is part of the routine of laboratories worldwide. Semen analysis is clinically useful for investigating male infertility. Usually, semen analysis routine includes the assessment of sperm characteristics (sperm count, vitality, motility and morphology) and physical properties of the ejaculate (volume, aspect, viscosity and pH). Some laboratories also perform supplementary tests such as antisperm antibody testing, leukocyte count, evaluation of coagulation and seminal liquefaction, hypoosmotic swelling test and the determination of the levels of fructose and zinc. These assessments are part of the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) Manual for Semen Analysis published in 2010, which is the main technological reference for this examination worldwide.
